Weddings and Baptisms

Wedding at St Mary’s

There’s something really quite special about St Mary’s. Not only is it ancient building steeped in history, but it is also an incredibly pretty and intimate place of worship; all of which makes it an ideal venue for Weddings, Blessings and Baptisms.

Whether you are looking for a wedding ceremony, a blessing following a civil ceremony or a vow renewal, we can help.

Although St Mary’s is a relatively small church, it can comfortably accommodate congregations of up to 130 people whilst still retaining the intimacy of its friendly setting. For wedding and blessing ceremonies we are able to offer a peal of six bells, accomplished organists and a choir. Subject to availability weddings can be held any day of the week, and here at St Mary’s we only conduct one wedding a day so that our couples can take their time rather than being rushed.

St Mary’s is situated in the stunning North Downs and has some beautiful views. We are also very lucky to be located right next door to three potential reception venues:  The stunning 17th Century Court Lodge Barn, Stansted Village Hall (which in addition to the great hall facilities also offers couples the opportunity to have a marquee reception directly opposite the Church) and the newly refurbished pub next door called The Black Horse.

Baptisms take place on Sundays and can either be held during the service so that the church family are also present to welcome the child into the Christian faith, or alternatively they can be private affairs. We do not charge for Baptisms.
